“Baptism…now saves you” 1 Peter 3:20-21

"For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ" Galatians 3:27.

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned" (Mark 16:15-16).  Scriptures teach that there’s a direct connection between the blood of Christ and baptism.  The phrase, “for the remission of sins,” connects the blood of Christ and baptism.  When our Lord Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26:26-29), He said these words with respect to the cup: “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (verse 27-28).

  • Baptism occurs in water.
  • Baptism is a burial; involving total immersion in water.
  • Baptism is to be preceded by repentance.
  • Baptism is the point at which God makes a person a disciple of Christ.
  • Baptism, coupled with belief and preceded by repentance, is the point at which a person is saved, receiving remission of sins.
  • Baptism is the contact point with the death (and, therefore, blood) of Christ.
  • One can no more be saved without water baptism than one can be saved without the crucifixion of Christ.
  • Baptism is the point at which one becomes a son of God and is clothed with Christ.
  • Baptism is the point at which sins are washed away.
  • Baptism is the point at which the resurrection of Christ saves the individual.
  • Baptism is the point at which a person receives the gift of the Holy Spirit.
