Donald G. Priddy - Minister

I was born in Paducah, Kentucky, on August 15, 1959, to Georgia Mae Priddy and Elton Priddy Sr. I am the 10th of 12 siblings, with six sisters and five brothers. I also have six other siblings between my father and mother. I was born in Kentucky, raised in Illinois, and preached in Tennessee before serving as the full-time minister for the Southside Church of Christ in Tucson, Arizona.

I obeyed the Gospel at the age of 12 and began preaching that same year. Brother William “Bill” Hensley and his wife, Evelyn Hensley, helped raise me in the Church, teaching, guiding, directing, and redirecting me in the way of righteousness.

I married Maxine Priddy in 1981, and we were blessed with two children. Donald G. Priddy II is the minister of the Southside Church of Christ in Phoenix, Arizona. He is married and has two daughters. Kimberly Dawn Priddy is the mother of a son and lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where she attends the Schrader Lane Church of Christ.

After graduating from high school in Brookport, Illinois, I attended Southwestern Christian College from 1977 to 1979. I then attended Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, where I earned my bachelor’s degree.

The congregations where I have preached, in order, are:

· Lee Street Church of Christ in Mayfield, Kentucky — 5 years
· Broadway Church of Christ in Metropolis, Illinois — 10 years

· Calhoun Church of Christ in Calhoun, Kentucky — 7 years

· Hollow Rock Church of Christ in Hollow Rock, Tennessee — 8 years

· Southside Church of Christ in Tucson, Arizona — 6 years

Before moving to Pahrump, Nevada, I also assisted the minister of the Highland Church of Christ in Tucson, Arizona.

Throughout my ministry, I have participated in the spiritual growth and development of congregations that were without preachers under the leadership of William “Bill” Hensley. I have also been blessed to participate in starting a Church of Christ in cities where there was no congregation of the Lord’s Church.

Just as I was led and guided by my father in the Gospel, I have had the opportunity to mentor Basheer Bristow, Tonidas Whimper, and Steven Henriquez as my sons in the Gospel. Two of them are now ministers of congregations of the Lord’s Church. My son, Donald Priddy II, has also served as an associate minister of the Southside Church of Christ.

While serving as minister of the Southside Church of Christ in Tucson, Arizona, we had five associate ministers and later ordained two men to serve as elders of the congregation.

I have a passion for church growth and development and have been blessed to help build and assist congregations in their spiritual growth and development. I believe the old way of church growth still works, and that the technology available in this century can only enhance the growth of the Lord’s Church when combined with specific techniques and skills.

Since 1994, I have worked in the fields of social services, behavioral health, and mental health.

I accepted the work at the Desert Church of Christ in Pahrump, Nevada, to assist the congregation in reaching its goals of spiritual growth and development. I made the decision to move from Tucson to Pahrump so that I could give the congregation my full attention in the preaching and teaching of the Gospel of Christ.

My spiritual philosophy comes from the words of David in Psalms 56:3:
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” (KJV)

It also comes from the words of Job in Job 42:5:
“I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear; but now mine eyes seeth thee.” (KJV)

God bless you all and all those who are in this world!

Church Leadership

God wants leaders who want to serve Him.

Loyal – a leader sets an example in loyalty to the church family and the surrounding community.

Enterprising – A leader is industrious and sees through or around difficulties. He does not mind working hard and sacrificially.

Attentive – A leader gives close attention to details, remembering that “cursed is he that doeth the work of the Lord  negligently” (Jeremiah 48:10).

Dependable – A leader is always ready and on time. He is always present not only for the service for which he is responsible, but for all services.

Eager – A leader is enthusiastic about serving the Lord in the position to which he has been appointed.

Radiant – A leader is happy and optimistic, seldom criticizing and always encouraging others.

Surrendered – A leader puts Christ first, others second, and himself last.

Honest – A leader gives advice, correction, and encouragement even when it may be hard to do so.

Industrious – A leader works hard. He matches talk with real work.

Prayerful – A leader serves as if everything depended on him and prays as if everything depended on God.
